Farewell to Matariki Inspired Fundraiser

On Saturday 26th September the Pōkeno Projects-Positively Pōkeno Committee hosted the Farewell to Matariki Dinner, a fundraiser to construct a recreation building on our soon-to-be-completed Pōkeno Sports Park, as well as an Urban Marae for our growing community.

The evening included live local talent, and featured a Farewell to Matariki Fashion Show, with the 9 models sponsored by Pōkeno Village Estate, showcasing Matariki inspired creations by Pōkeno resident and garment designer Dhanak Humayun, also showcased at the Cannes Film Festival in 2026.

It was a fantastic night with great food and good company, bringing people together, sharing skills, supporting local talent, involving our young people and raising funds for facilities that will benefit our community for generations to come.

A big thank you to the Pōkeno Projects-Positively Pōkeno team for organising such a special evening, and to everyone who came along and gave so generously.
